We learn about the life and works of the Pritzker Prize-winning Indian architect Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi in a classic documentary portrait. Doshi guides us around his most important buildings himself, sharing his design principles and philosophy. A talented student of Le Corbusier, he worked with many famous architects, and through his personal stories, among others, we gain insight into the working methods of Le Corbusier and Louis Kahn as well. The protagonist died at 95 in 2023, giving the film its sad topicality. His presence of mind, humour, and wisdom represent the image of a creator who sets an example not only with his approachable architecture but also with his humanity.
As a Hungarian aspect of the film, background music was composed from the pieces of Béla Bartók.
How could Doshi’s human-centered design approach be transferred into local practice?
