The documentary shows the struggle of a London housing community to keep their homes against the local council and investors’ bureaucracy. We learn the story of Cressingham Gardens, from its blossoming to its downfall. The story is told in three separate chapters, in which the people who shaped the place are portrayed: an architect, a resident and a member of the local council. Through their narratives, we get a glimpse into the maze of the housing estate’s dubious future—with which the past and present of many intertwine. We get an insight into the tough decisions to be made and the motivations of the various parties involved. Shot on 16 mm film, the story’s visual world is magically unique.
