Commemorating the late Béla Tarr and his iconic career, our festival is screening one of the director’s defining early feature film.
The story follows the conflict-ridden lives and personal dramas of a married couple. The film provides a singular socio-portrait of the housing estate lifestyle that reached its peak in the 1970s. It offers a unique perspective on the specific dynamics of the pre-fabricated apartment complexes in Tiszaújváros (then known as Leninváros), immersing the viewer into the characters’ everyday lives through unconventional cinematic tools.
