The skeletons of the factories on Népsziget are now only mementoes that this landscape was once part of the prominent industrial area of Budapest and the Danube. The rustbelt is dynamically transforming and takes a new face every year. Change is inevitable, but in whose interest is the island transforming? And what effect does the transformation have on the people living there or connected to it? Songs from People’s Island is a visual study and musical panorama with absurdist elements, which presents the changes taking place on the island from the perspective of a homeless islander.
