Transformation is perhaps an indicator of the success of a building in resisting time. This former cacao and grain silo in Basel has found a new use, having been converted into a multi-faceted venue for the wider local community, containing functions such as ateliers and studios for cultural workers, service providers and young businessmen, a hostel and a restaurant. Architects of Harry Gugger Studio paid particular attention to preserving and highlighting the structure of the building by maintaining the vertical divisions of the former storage units.
